Final Robot

Development stage

here i tried experimenting with different ways to come up with an interesting robot figure. started with the bottom right figure which didnt leave much room for imaginative dimensions and perspective.

after a few hours of experimenting i looked  up a tutorial on youtube on robot concepts. this helped a lot.

this is what i come up with following the fast 10 minute tutorial.... not the same outcome i have to say :(

Final Surreal Piece

this final piece turned out alot better than i thought. after experimenting with shading i came to this outcome. i enjoyed this brief and wanted to do something like this for a while. hope you like it.

First Attempt

so my basic idea is to have a huge mountain of sand which looks like a pair of legs. the idea came from a stage in Mortal Komabat 9 where theres a rock shaped women broken up in the sand. i tried using the smudge tool to manipulate the actual reference but it didnt end up looking so great. but its a start :)

They Wont See This Coming.

From the reference picture you can probably tell what im getting at. its a bit of a 'make love not war' type meaning. a peaceful solution to war, have a water fight! i kept it in the artstyle that our group projects are doing so everything is relevant.

Just a first idea I had

Researching some propaganda posters l learnt that war is often associated with the colour of red So i knocked up a 2 hour drawing of a 'dictator' like figure with a gradient of red just to test out what i can come up with and experiment trying to do my own propaganda version. i dont think im going to go down the propaganda route for this brief, so im going to try redesign a an image of war in my own artstyle and maybe add a few twists.

Hand Drawn Attempt

Basically started looking at pictures of myself that had some CHARACTER. i thought this pose suited well. i tried going over the picture in Photoshop but failed miserably because the face is just too much of a constraint when drawing over it, so i decided to go back to traditional media to test out what i can produce by hand. i looked at the main features of my face and over exaggerated them.
